Heaven and Hell(p) Music Education

If you weren't aware by now, Don serves on the Board of Directors of the Guitar Center Foundation, which “believes that music participation is an essential element in the fabric of an enduring society,” and is committed to supporting music education in schools and communities.

If you don't have a signed copy of Don's book yet, or even if you do, you might consider owning one (or both!) of the only two signed galley proofs available that the Foundation is now offering in their store. These are unedited versions of Heaven and Hell and the proceeds benefit the Foundation's music education programs.

Don Felder Radio Special Project Announced

From the news wires:

“SANTA MONICA, CA–(May 13, 2008) – On The Strip Radio Network is proud to announce a one-hour radio special with Don Felder based on his newly released autobiography, “Heaven and Hell… My Life with The Eagles 1974-2001.” Don Felder's program for On The Strip Radio Network is produced in conjunction with Denny Somach Productions and joins a growing list of rock and roll artists profiled, including Eric Clapton and Heart.

Don Felder was once a part of rock and roll's most influential group, The Eagles, and his story is one that has never fully been examined until now. For thirty years he was the guitarist for America's Band, working alongside Glen Frey and Don Henley to create the sounds that marked a generation. In the upcoming special, Felder gives his audience the backstage pass to all the wild, pressure-packed moments in Eagles history. From the bewildering high of stadiums filled with cheering fans to the drug-addled, backstage battles between the band, Felder's interview will expose it all.

Beyond all the drama, the courtrooms and the pain, there was always the music; the joy of writing and performing some of the most memorable songs in rock and roll history. Don Felder, who co-wrote the Eagles' biggest hit, “Hotel California,” with Frey and Henley, relishes those moments more than any other. To him, the music is heaven, that one element of nature that raises spirits above and beyond any hell created by man.

Producer Denny Somach states, “The Eagles are one of the most exciting and successful bands of the last 30 years, and Don Felder was a major part of the magic within that band. Everyone at Denny Somach Productions is delighted to work with On The Strip Radio Network on this exciting project.”

On The Strip Radio Network is a network and content creation enterprise, built to deliver unique and creative quality programming for radio stations across America. On The Strip Radio Network builds close relationships with record labels, movie studios, book publishers, retailers and others to create original radio specials and programming.”
