Don was recently involved in filming a promotional product demonstration for Blue Microphones. Thanks to our Twitter RSS “bird feed” and a tweet from the folks who produced the video, we caught the link to the 3 Penguins Design blog. Between the mic match-ups, you’ll get to see Don flip-flop between playing an electric and an acoustic guitar on command, something we wish we could get him to do.
Here’s the direct link to the flash video
Don will be the featured guest on syndicated radio’s Chop Shop Guitar Show Classic coming up the week of May 25th. The program showcases guitar players and sounds which have influenced rock music.
Check the Shop’s page for a list of affiliates in your area and radio stations that stream live on the internet.

Give. Music. Life.
The Guitar Center Music Foundation, the independent non-profit organization dedicated to providing music education programs in the public schools, has been officially re-christened the
Fender Music Foundation. Along with the name change, the foundation becomes an authorized licensee of Fender. It provides grants in the form of musical instruments and equipment.
Don has been a member of the Board of Directors for quite some time now. The Directors are supported by an Advisory Board stocked with personnel from the music business, including artists and industry professionals.
One of this site’s features is an open-ended Q & A section for fans and fellow guitar players to pose questions to Don.
Every week we get asked everything from what specific gear set-ups Don uses to how average Joes can best try to achieve his signature sound.
On the eve of his performances this coming Friday and Saturday, February 20th & 21st at the Fallsview Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls (>> venue and ticket info and latest lengthy press preview here), Don tuned in to talk tone.
“Fellow guitar addict” David F. wanted to know: Have you ever used a compressor/sustainer pedal? If so, why would you use one and what impact do they have on guitar tone. I am a guitar player and have fiddled with them, but never really “got it.”
Don: “I have never used a compressor/sustainer pedal on record. I’ve tried several times to find a way to use them but have always walked away disappointed with the results. The only people I know who use[d] them are Lowell George and Bonnie Raitt to get that long clean sustain for slide. Lowell would use two 1176 limiters in succession before the amp. I think Bonnie learned it from Lowell.”

Where can you get seldom-seen, framed prints in various sizes of Don and the Eagles’ vintage concert performances? Look no further than the, get this, “Home and Garden” department of the humonguous on-line retailer Amazon.com, right in between “bath and bedding” and “pet supplies.”
Thumbs up to those 70′s decade photographers who had an eye (and lens) for the axe-men. Choose among 165 photographs of Don and other members of every Eagles configuration from back in the day: the guitars, the jeans, the hair – just like we remember them!
Looks like we’ll be postponing buying that vacuum cleaner and doing some home decorating instead.
