Don Does Dunhill

The 18th at St Andrews in 2008Pro golfer Simon Khan has been paired with Don for this year’s Dunhill Links championship golf tournament, with the guys teeing off tomorrow morning on the tenth at Carnoustie.

The Carnoustie group offers a slew of big professional golf names, including last year’s championship winner Robert Karlsson, as well as many well-known celebrity amateurs from showbiz and sport. This means chances are good the Golf Channel will have it’s cameras there.

It’s the Dunhill Links Week

© felderfans.comDon’s on his way over to Scotland again for the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am kicking off on October 1. The tournament takes place over three world-renowned courses in and around St. Andrews, the Mecca of golf.

Gaining a coveted amateur spot in the prestigious tournament is virtually impossible for the average duffer. According to Don, playing in it is “like my birthday and Christmas all rolled in to one.”

Charity Tournament Aids Cancer Center

Click on Don to view more golf photosGolf enthusiasts and generous guests helped raise close to £30,000 for the Christie Hospital in Manchester this past weekend at the annual Howard Keel-Don Felder Golf Classic.

Don has been participating in the event for the past ten years. He was asked by the late Howard Keel to take over hosting duties in 2004. Next year will be the 25th edition.

It’s the Classic Golf Weekend

hk_golfballDon’s in the U.K. this weekend, hosting the traditional Keel-Felder Golf Classic. As in the previous two years, the DeVere Carden Park Hotel and Golf Resort near Chester will stage the charity event on Sunday, September 6. The first foursomes hit the fairways early and don’t stop swinging until shortly before the cocktails, gala dinner, auction and entertainment top off the day’s festivities.

Everybody Look What’s Goin’ Down

From Friday night’s celebrity bash at the Bob Hope Classic. Don and Stephen Stills were among the amateur golfers donating their musical talent to the tournament’s charity event.

Today’s the last day to watch the celebrity/amateur teams out on the course. On Sunday, the top pros divvy up the bulk of the $5.1 million purse in the final round.
