Don begins play at the Bob Hope Golf Classic tomorrow and, this year, he’s been paired with golf pro Matt Kuchar and actor Joel Gretsch.
The pro-am foursomes consist of a professional golfer plus three amateur players. To make spotting a favorite actor, sports hero or television personality easier, each round puts all of the celebrities together on the same course. Don and the other musicians teeing off this year sure make for a great jam band, namely Steve Cropper, Alice Cooper, Tommy Thayer, Steve Azar and Danny Saraphine.
Play in the Bob Hope Golf Classic doesn’t get underway until next Wednesday, January 19, however the promotion is, as one would expect, in “full swing.”
Being one of this year’s celebrity pro-am entrants, Don was interviewed by KXPS Sports Radio and featured in this preview on kesq.com.
Don will return for the third consecutive year to play in the Bob Hope Golf Classic coming up January 19-23 in and around La Quiinta, California. At today’s event media day, the local Desert Sun captured details in this article.
Complete information about the tournament can be found at the official site.

Don returns to Sun Valley this week to participate in the Danny Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament (Aug 19-21). The event, created in honor of former Minnesota Twins/Texas Rangers player Danny Thompson in 1976, amassed an amazing $10 million last year, all of which went directly to funding leukemia research.
He’ll “warm up for the golf” by playing a benefit concert prior to the tournament on Wednesday, August 18 at the Sun Valley Pavilion. As of this posting, tickets are still available, with special VIP premium seating including a pre-concert cocktail meet-and-mingle with Don.

Don returns to the Pavillion in Sun Valley for a second year in a row on August 18, supporting the Danny Thompson Memorial Fund in tandem with the organization’s annual golf tournament scheduled for August 18-21. The golf event has raised millions over more than 30 years for leukemia and cancer research.
Tickets will go on sale soon according to the SunValley.com site. We’ll keep you posted.
