Signed guitars, memorabilia, books, celebrity music lessons and the grand prize “Rockstar Experience” await the winning bidders in the Guitar Center Foundation’s Rock Star Charity Auction which is now underway at www.auctionwire.com until December 13 – 7 p.m. PST. Don is among the items under the hammer – you can bid on the chance to have a “Meet & Greet or Guitar Lesson” with him. (We haven’t yet figured out how you can get the guitar lesson WITHOUT meeting him but what do we know…….)
The winning wannabe awaits his or her own Rockstar Experience package containing a day at a recording studio, magazine, poster and storefront publicity plus much more. Find out what it’s all about over at the Guitar Center Foundation site.
Don’s not the only one who’s been hanging out in the Sunshine State this week. Stephen Stills attended the dedication ceremony yesterday of the new University of Florida band’s reheasal building, which he helped fund. The building, Steinbrenner Hall, is named after the family of New York Yankee’s owner George Steinbrenner, the project’s major financer.
Stills grew up in Florida in the late 50′s and early 60′s and played in the Gainesville high school marching band. Readers of Don’s book Heaven and Hell know that Don and Stephen were both members of the Continentals, a hometown band, when they were in their teens.

Six-hundred-seventy-eight generous ticketholders will enjoy Don’s concert tomorrow evening at the 23rd annual Bay Medical Center Society Gala fundraiser in Panama City, Florida. The event will be held at the Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort and Spa. In addition to the show, a Felder-autographed Fender strat will be auctioned off. The Bay Medical Center, one of the country’s top fifty, will benefit from an expected $175,000 in proceeds which will go towards purchasing hospital and medical equipment as well as renovations. Don was featured as a Guitar Center “Get Schooled” artist last month. With the support of the local radio station, a handful of lucky contest winners got to sit in on a sound check and participate in a question and answer session with the master himself.

Don with #1 piece of equipment
Don defied the forces of nature during the third and last day for the amateurs played yesterday at Kingsbarns. Playing in conditions more suitable to testing battleships in a wind tunnel without the tunnel, he actually made up some strokes. His toughest job was trying not to blow away like a male Mary Poppins while holding an open golf umbrella.
Don admitted he didn’t think he would play that well this year since he’s been busy doing other things besides working on his golf game, like promoting his book and, get this, playing guitar.
Rex Usa has several pictures taken at this year’s event, including some of Don during the practice rounds, chit-chatting at the pairings dinner and performing at the Saturday night shindig along with Huey Lewis and Tico Torres.
