Although it will be a bit late for this year’s Christmas gift-giving, Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles will be published in paperback in the U.S. this coming April 2009 by Wiley & Sons. We have yet to see the book in audio format, either through Wiley or Orion U.K. If it does eventually get published on CD, why bring in a stranger? We think Don should narrate it, so get to work now, guys.
Speaking of Heaven and Hell, we’ve gotten a lot of mail from folks asking if they can send Don their copies to have autographed. We asked Don about this and he said at the time being he doesn’t have a logistics scheme set up to handle requests by mail. As an alternative he’s considering offering concert-goers the chance to purchase the book at his live shows and have him autograph it on the spot.
Multi-instrumentalist and drummer extraordinare Joe Vitale is doling out backstage passes! Set for November publication, BACKSTAGE PASS is the title of his upcoming book in which he shares stories gleaned from 40+ years touring and recording with the likes of Joe Walsh, the Eagles, Foreigner, Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, Ted Nugent, Neil Young, and of course, Crosby, Stills & Nash among many, many others. Personally signed copies are now available for pre-order.
What else is Joe up to? Well, he tells us his forthcoming album “Speaking in Drums” is in the last mixing stages and will roll out any day now. He’s also been busy helping to produce his son Joe Vitale Jr’s new disc.
We’re planning to catch up with Joe when he comes through Europe supporting Stephen Stills’ solo tour next month. The guys kick off October 1st on the continent before heading to the U.K. for a two-week stint. View tour dates at stephenstills.com.
Just a reminder that Don will be doing a couple of appearances in the Southern California area this weekend. Today he’s at the Best Buy in Sherman Oaks from 2:00 pm and on Monday evening he’ll participate in an interview Q&A along with a book signing at the Santa Monica Public Library beginning at 7:00 pm. Check the Book Signings for details.

Don's book is listed among the bestselling hardcover, non-fiction titles according to this coming week's New York Times Bestseller List.
Congratulations, Don!
Don gave an extensive interview with BlogTalkRadio which was recorded live during the recent Book Expo in Los Angeles.
