Hi Gary,
Don usually is very gracious to his fans. Be patient, and wait for him, it
will most likely pay off in a persoal way. Meanwhile, stay off purchasing any Eagles autographs off of Ebay. Way, way, way, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many fakes. Please see my Eagles section at www.rockandrollcollection.com and you can see a whole host of real and personal Felder signatures. Like you, I too am looking to get a couple of my books signed. Good Luck!!!
Cheers…………..

I have just finished Dons book.
Having been an Eagles fan for many years I was very interested to read Dons account of what it was like being in the band after so many years.
Now that I have read the book I am bitterly disappointed to learn that both Frey and Hendley morphed into musical versions of George Bush and Rubert Murdoch.
There was clearly no brotherly love in their Hotel California and to read the many accounts of the way Don, Bernie, Randy and others and were treated I was in utter disbelief!
Even the road crew weren’t safe!
I would have told them both to get lost a long time ago however Don clearly had a big heart and stayed in line.
In fact I would have stuffed Frey’s carton of Marlboro’s up his arse!
However It was a great read. Thank you Don for sharing those incredible highs and lows with the many fans around the globe.
For me however listening to those famous songs will never quite be the same again.

The book is a must read for all Eagles Fans, I read it in two days!! Now that Don’s side of the story is told it would be interesting to hear what the other Eagles have to say, in particular Timothy and Joe who it appears deserted Don at the eleventh hour. Whilst the dynamics of the band off stage were not exactly harmonious it is likely this factor which made them strive for the perfection we have all come to know so well. Despite all the crap Don had to put up with he comes across as honest and quite magnanimous towards the other band members giving credit where its due, its just a shame ‘The Gods’ couldn’t publicly do likewise.

Gary, if you mean signed by Don, he’s been coming over to the UK at least once a year for the past couple of years for charity golf, etc., and he’s more than forthcoming about giving autographs. (Take a look at the golf photo albums – the autograph shots are not posed!) I’m sure he’d be glad to sign something for you personally.

I took this book as something to read whilst on my holiday flight, there was nothing to read for the return flight.
This book confirmed many things written in the unauthorised version/biography of the Eagles.
Thank you Don Felder for the years, I am a musician myself (Bassist since 1962) this book confirmed that no matter how big or small a high percentage bands are not a happy experience as I’ve leant many times over.

It’s sad to see how many people are being conned with the latest so-called Eagles album, without Don Felder this is just two ego freaks, the remnents of a once great band.
How many Eagles did it take in the past? answer 5, how many does it take now answer 2+14.
Come back Don felder, Randy & Bernie.

I don’t know all the ins and outs of what caused Don Felder to be tossed from the Eagles. But, I do know that they are again allowing their egos to take precedence over what the fans want. And, without the fans, the Eagles would we like the proverbial tree that falls in the woods.
Seeing the Eagles perform live today is better than ever. Their attention to detail and obvious focus on audience satisfaction is second to none. But, to hear some Nashville session guy play the Don Felder scribed solos is a travesty. It’s like watching some excellent local artist paint the Mona Lisa. It looks right and is very accurate.. but it ends up worthless because it is missing the most important ingredient…the passion and history of the orginal creator. It is almost painful for me to watch Joe play the lead lines at the end of Hotel Caifornia without his buddy with the dual neck Gibson. He looks like that kid at the 8th grade sock hop who get’s left in the middle of the dance floor when his date goes to talk to another guy.
Henley and Frey know this. They aren’t dumb. On some level they know they are catering to the masses and not the most loyal hardcore Eagles fans who have stuck with them all these years.
I frankly don’t give rats about their infantile disputes or failure to get along. Twenty years from now when they are looking back and contemplating their time on the planet, I suspect they will regret “winning the argument”…and wish they had just “gotten over it” and put Don Felder to stage left where he belongs.

What a book, it took me 3 days to read, I have two copies, the one I will read again ( when I am back too work, back and forth on the train to London ) the second is a signed copy, this will take pride amounst my Eagles memorabillia. We all as Eagle’s fans know what has gone on, but to read the full account and all the in depth stuff you could only have guessed at is great, I would highly recomend this book not only to Eagles fans but, any fan of Rock & Roll read’s. I have read several books on other people’s accounts of what had gone on in the early days, but this is the real deal, Mr Felder has been true to himself and his fans, again I cannot speak highly enough of this book, get a copy or two.
Thanks for the book Don, when is the next chapter due for release (LOL) you never can say never ?
All the best to Eagles fans out there & Merry Xmas

[quote comment]obviously my two favorite tunes when you were with the eagles are hotel califofnia, which you wrote, and take it to the limit, which randy meisner wrote. both of you were my favorite eagles. you will always be my absolute favorite eagle. as far as i’m concerned you’ll always be an eagle. I can’t leave out though that one of favorite tunes from you also was heavy metal.I know this is probably a dumb question but you had to have written alot more songs while with the eagles.

There is a lot to digest in Heaven and Hell. I really enjoy Don’s perspective and account of what was going on in rock music from Gainsville to Boston and eventually to L.A. The circle of friends and fellow musicians he spent time with, jammed with, and toured with must have been so amazing. The rest, I hope, is as accurate as he remembers and is as truthful as we believe it should be. Hopefully, Meisner, Frey, Henley and the rest will write thier books as thiers too is as a remarkarkable journey as Felder’s. Such talent from all 7 members, yet so much turmoil. Heaven and Hell is well worth the reading!!!!

I too could’nt put Don’s book down and have just finished it.
I was only introduced to the eagles through my husband when i bought him the Hell freezes over DVD in 2003 and absolutely fell inlove with them. I have bought every DVD and CD that i could find since then. Don Felder blew me away, definitely the most underrated guitar player of all time. I certainly can’t even bare to look at those 2 “gods” after what they have put Don through, I cried when i read how they fired him and what he went through.

I think all Eagles fans should read this book and find out what Don H and Glenn Frey are really like. I idolised those 2 people, but not anymore. The very best of luck and happiness to you Don. Keep on playing.

Here’s my online campaign:
Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, and Don Felder should join together and form a band, it would be the greatest thing since the Eagles. They have really gone downhill since they fired Felder. I miss the picking of Leadon, Randy’s voice, and Don’s solos. Do it for the true fans Don!

I liked Don’s book. As an Eagles fan who flew to California to see their October 2007 shows, I was offended that Don was put through the gauntlet by Henley and Frey over litigation with the book. What are they so afraid about? It’s only a book written about their legendary band that is honest and yet so even keeled that no one in the Eagles looks anything other than human. Don seems like a really cool guy. Hey Don, email me at tod3@msn.com and let me know of where I can send my book to get you to sign it? Go Don Felder and Bernie Leadon!

Nice tribute to HT. He will be missed! Thank goodness we have his music!
He’s is at the top of my list (along with Don of course) as one of the greatest guitarist ever!
To reply to Larry’s comment about an all star tribute band featuring former Eagles and Outlaws, wouldn’t that be something! ~Aimee

I’ve just finished reading the book. Wow. Parts of it blew me away. I have to admit, I still enjoy listening to the (old) Eagles music and my fave DVD is the Hell Freezes Over one. However… I find it extremely difficult not to look at the remaining band members in a totally different light. I’m surprised that Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmidt haven’t grown any balls since then. As I read further into the book I thought they would be there to support Don, but I had no idea they would just bury their heads in the sand and pretend nothing was happening. Especially since they were mentioned in the credits at the beginning of the book. Maybe money IS stronger than friendship, but after 27 years you’d think that would count for something. As for Henley and Frey … it’s a pity that fans are still loyal to them. As it’s money that’s driving them, money can also tear them apart. How can two people hate each other (and everyone else for that matter) so much for so many years, yet put on a facade that is worthless, given that everyone now knows the truth. Wake up and grow up!

Simply put the eagles are not the eagles without Don Felder ! Don Henley and Glenn Frey are nothing more than a couple of ego maniacs running a brand name. Joe walsh is really just a side note without Don ( ever seen him solo ? do yourself a favor, don’t ) and Timothy B Schmit does’nt ( sorry, oh well ) he’s no Randy Meisner and Stewart Smith is a boring robot along with the 10 other hired hands they now hold court over ! I really think the only audience they have now are people that know nothing more than the “hits” and go to the shows to discuss the stock market. Watch anything up to Hell freezes over to see the real thing, oh by the way hell will freeze over before I care for this band as I once did.

I’m a huge, I say again, HUGE fan of Don Felder. One of the most underestimated guitarists ever. Say, Don… I’m a golfer, too (17 handicap) – when are you coming to Kalgoorlie (Western Australia) for a hit? Let me know and I’ll arrange the game
It’s a sand green course at present, but we’re getting a new resort-style” course which will be finished sometime next year. 18 holes of grass – they’re saying it’s going to be in the top 10 desert courses of the world – YOU HAVE TO COME AND PLAY! Yep, and bring your guitar (or several) too!

You are a masterful guitarist. I am a musician (clasical guitarist) and I can say you have a good feel about your playing. The Eagles are a bunch of money greedy musicians only concerned with the bottom line. Thank you for the wonderful runs of melodies. Thanks for the awesome licks that you roll out like nothing. You are a true artist.

just finished the book…………………………………………………
went to see the eagles last year in dublin for my birthday as a true eagles fan.drove trucks across america for two years and when you approach california after two days driving, the only thing you want to listen to is the eagles.
i wish we could bring bottles into the gig in dublin, because mr. felder i would have gladly rained them down on don (is my hair ok) henly and glenn (i am f#’kin buddah) frey.i totally understand the position you were put in by the “gods”.its a shame bernie was’nt by your side at the end.you have nothing to feel guilty about the band, you were treated atrociously and soldiered on,which i could’nt have because i would have knocked the two of them out and been out of a job.but that’s my irish personality.fu#kin like me or i’ll knock you out1lol.i can’t believe you were so gracious at the end of the book,i admire that.don’t lose that trait.sorry for the rant but i hate people who think their important.it does’nt go down well in ireland.we’re not starstruck here.you see bono or enya on the street and its like “whats the story ,hows tricks and move on”.i’m sorry my wife paid those rip off prices for my 40th birthday.i enjoyed the gig but i could have been listening to the cd.there was no interaction with the crowd.everything note perfect and goodnight from don at the end the only word spoken to the audience.i felt cheated, more so since i read your book. whatever you and yours do i hope it works out well and god bless your family.
cheers phillip.

I’ve been a huge Eagles fan since the mid 1970′s. Felder was always my favorite member. His book, Heaven and Hell, proves Felder is a class act, a man with a good heart, not to mention a fabulous guitarist. Having seen Eagles concerts live in Atlanta 1977, and Philly in 2003, they are not the same great band without him. As long as Felder is not a member, I will never attend another Eagles concert nor buy Eagles music ever again. Obviously, Frey is a big greedy bully that gets off on others’ misfortunes and Henley is a narcissitic antisocial egomaniac. Walsh, although a good guitarist, must have suffered brain damage from drinking and forgot what “loyalty” means. I will always feel Eagles are America’s Beatles thanks to Don Felder, who was completely under-appreciated and over-shadowed. Don, thanks for the great book (I read the whole book in 2 days) and wish you and your family well. You deserve nothing but the best. I hope you have great musical success in the future. Ordering the book from Amazon UK was easy, only took a couple of days to get it. I recommend it to every music fan.

I went to see the Eagles at the staple center and was really disapointed that Don was’nt playing, to me the Eagles ARE NOT the Eagles unless Mr. Felder is playing. Had I known in advance that Don would’nt be playing I would NOT have spent $600.00 to see them. I dont know what the problem is but I wish Mr. Felder and Mr. Frey would get off their high horse!! Don your the best!!

The recent Eagles concerts here in L.A. ( I saw last Sunday nights )was both a set list of predictability, and filled with no surprises. 11 of the same ol/same ‘ol classics played after hearing 4 new ones and 3 Henley solo’s and 2 Walsh solo’s ( yes, that’s only 20 songs ). Isn’t it time to leave the solo tunes to the solo tours?? — Perhaps Henley, Frey, Azoff and the boys can attend one of the two Springsteen shows this week and see how The Boss mixes & changes his set list every night and how fans sit at the edge of thier seat, or better yet jumping out of it with songs different than the night before. Nothing worse than paying top dollar for a boring concert.

Here’s some latest press about the Eagles album/DF book release collision with a few quotes from Don:
H.Hodges,
October 28, 2007
I forgot to mention in my last rant, and for those who might not be aware, but the Eagles are playing a show in London on october 31st.Tickets are priced at £1000 ($2000),and are available only to some corporate types, half of which would`nt know a B flat from a bulls` foot !! I can understand why Don Felder felt uncomfortable playing Eagles gigs for certain US politicians now.Maybe he would have been better advised in aiming that Takamine acoustic at a certain guitarist/singers` head ?? Nice to see that “the gods” treat their genuine life-long fans well ! To replace Mr.Felder, they now have more people on stage than Earth wind and fire plus Kool and the gang combined !!!
H.Hodges,
October 28, 2007
Don Henley- avid political commentator and self-appointed champion of artists` rights. Then gets into bed with Wallmart ? Seems like you could be another self-righteous,self-serving politician Mr Henley.Oh yes, ever heard of the phrase “charity begins at home” ? This is why The Eagles need two keyboard players,a journeyman guitar player and a horn section to TRY and replace Mr Felder ! Classic case of do as I say,not do as I do !! To write Heaven and hell took a lot of guts, which is more than can be said for Messrs.Henley and Frey(don`t think much about the reactions of Walsh and Schmidt either). I`m a devoted Eagles fan by the way,but delighted that Don Felder has enlightened people about “the gods”. Hope the others can live with their consciences, well said Don,good luck in all you do in the near future !

Hi its me again.Heaven and hell arrived from amazon uk yesterday and i’ve been on a readathon and have read the book from cover to cover.Don has wrtten a good account of his life in and out of the Eagles. The parts about Joe Walsh’s social eventing are hilarious(this reminds me ,when i asked Albert Lee at a gig a few weeks ago in Dundee, Scotland if he new Mr Walsh,he replied with a smile on his face, yeh i know Joe well, never a dull moment when he’s around)
All Felder/Eagles fans should read this book and form their own opinion on the actions of Henley/Frey in 2001 and then look for this really nice guy at a charity golf day and ask him to sign his book.
H.Hodges,
October 24, 2007
I`ve spent the last two days digesting the book, and can recommend it to any Eagles fan.Very informative and interesting, from his early days growing up at home in Florida,to the very summit of musical performance and fame.this account I found to be honest, open and sincere. It is one of those books that you cannot put down, and reach the end only too quickly, but I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover. I think that any level-headed,unbiased person would appreciate this read, and I find it difficult to see how anyone would be offended by it.It portrays Don as the sort of bloke I always thought he is,ie; unassuming, diplomatic and genuine, not to mention one of the most underrated guitar players of all time!! Hope others enjoy this as much as I did, thanks for a great read.

Hi Don am enjoying the book, and hope you are doing well, have always admired your playing and enormous contribution to the Eagles.
Was stood beside you on stage during your sound check in Glasgow on 30 April 1977. Could not muster the nerve to say hi, could only stand and gaze in astonishment at your skill and the thrill of being so close to my guitar hero. Now I am almost fifty and have regreted it ever since.
I would like to thank you for the great music and fantastic performances you have given us, and would wish you and yours everything you wish yourselvres.
All the best

With ribbon cutting ceremonies on Tuesday and an opening night last night at the new Nokia Center ( top ticket prices at $285.00 ), glory be to the Henley, the Walsh, the Frey and the Schmit. Once again they are on top of the green puffy clouds of even more $$$ on top of the allready massive green clouds of $$$ and even more $$$$$$. Somewhere else in the world is Bernie, Randy, and Don all of which too paved the way and now can’t find a gig bigger than a club room to play, or a book shelf to sell a book. Just some thoughts………………

I wonder if Azoff & Co know how petty they seem trying to suppress this book. Or how stupid, as controversy only engenders interest. They get everyone simply DYING to read the book when, if they’d shrugged it off, mostly diehard fans would’ve been wild after it.
There is an excerpt from the new book up TODAY at the UK edition of Times online.
Hey, did anyone know Don’s releasing the book as a MP3! Unfortunately it’s not Don reading it. As far as I can make out this is the only version of the book available at this time in US. It’s not that we’re real superstitious or anything, but it’s a good thing we toted a complete change of all-weather gear for a gazillion hours over three golf courses since Thursday, otherwise we wouldn’t have been treated to the glorious sunshine and mild temperatures during this year’s Dunhill. And we knew things could only get better when apparently word spread among the announcers and Don morphed from “Don Fielder” to “Don Felder” within 24 hours.
Despite a bit of a sandstorm (caused by his own club) on the holes between the 12th and 15th tee, Don proved that those 387 holes of golf he’s played within a six-day period were good for something. He bettered his score by six strokes today out at St. Andrews, finishing 8 under par for the tournament. Good job Don! If you return next year, we know Tiger will insist on playing with you! Doc, Juan and Daniel all played well today with Daniel making the professional cut for tomorrow’s final and Juan placing in the top half of the field.
It’s a credit to Don that despite the press conferences, photo sessions, interviews, autographs, telephone calls, e-mails, dinner receptions, showers, bus rides, sound checks and musical performance he even had a chance to swing a club this week. Hang in there Don, tomorrow you’re only a 12-hour flight from home. Godspeed!
Daniel -5/61st – will play in the championship round
Juan -3/72nd
Doc -18 (we think)
Don -8

Twas a beautiful, sunny Friday out on the links at Carnoustie today. The guys were the last group scheduled to tee off which meant the wake up calls were later than usual. The fairways at Carnoustie are narrow and some of the greens share two flags. We recommend helmets for spectators watching from the middle of the course.
Don fared a bit better today than yesterday. He’s played some bad golf before he admits, but he can’t remember ever losing a stroke while he slept. Apparently due to a scoring error which nobody caught after yesterday’s round, he and Doc started the day each with a stroke disadvantage. Maybe they really ought to reconsider the pencil and paper thing…..
Tomorrow the guys plan to make their big move to the front of the leaderboard on the Old Course at St. Andrew’s. It’s Golf Channel territory out there guys, so we know you’ll all be looking extra spiffy for round three!
Daniel -4/48th
Juan even par/108th

Don, Juan, Daniel Vancsik and Doc McGhee got off to an early start today out at Kingsbarns. Kingsbarns is quite scenic – a course with extremely rolling terrain running the length of the shore. We suppose if you are a player the trick is to avoid hitting the ball into any area under sea level. The day started out cool but as the round wore on temperatures warmed and everyone was high on the fact that it didn’t rain.
Don played a “modest” round (“this is the worst golf I’ve played in five years”) finishing with a stronger second nine (meaning no clubs were thrown and expletives were kept to an absolute minimum.) He hasn’t turned off his golf battery in four days so maybe it’s all just a blur to him by now.
It was also a very informative day for us non-players as we learned how the officials keep score. Believe it or not, they still do it with pencil and paper.
Anyway, tomorrow the guys test their skills against the elements out at Carnoustie. We’ll try to have a few photos from the first two days posted by tomorrow evening if we can locate a card reader.

Like I posted on “Stalled in the Fast Lane…” DeepDiscount informed me they are honoring pre-orders of the book
RickenbackerWayback,
October 4, 2007
I inquired of DeepDiscount whether the change of publisher and the delays would affect my pre-order status and they wrote me back to inform me that since the book is indeed being published they are honoring pre-orders for the book and taking new orders for it as well irregardless of who publishes it, what country it’s printed in or the street date. So I am hoping that all the other outlets for Don’s book are doing the same thing. Hopefully!

This whole thing looks like it’s been crazy!!!
Check out this article from the NY Post…looks like the Eagles and Irving did a number on Don, but he’ll get the last word…literally

Perhaps they’ll reconsider und re-schedule for say, the beginning of November?
In the mean time this article might shed some light on who’s releasing what when and why.

I love Don Felder’s work too. I still love the Eagles and I miss seeing Don on the videos. I really hoped that Felder would have reunited with the Eagles before the studio project went into production. I would like to know if we’ll be hearing anything from Felder soon? I don’t have time download video clips. Is there a link that has a schedule or upcoming events. Why doesn’t Felder put together a band to play all the Eagles songs he was apart of? Will we ever really know Don’s side of what happened between him and Henley/Frey?
By the way, it’s my understanding that Glen Frey playing the lead guitar parts on “I Can’t Tell You Why” am I wrong?

I will take you up on your recommendation and order a book(s).
I planned on getting them at Book Soup. ![]()
I think Don should still do a signing……there are allot of fans that would simply like to wish him well and grab an autograph or two.
He could join up at the Hollywood Collectors Showcase, they have a show this weekend in Burbank.

Anybody able to catch the radio show?
If not, according to the site it’s possible to listen to a re-broadcast for the next 7 days. Anyway, here are some of Don’s remarks.
On where Don got his passion for golf:
It really started back in Florida when the Eagles were spending all their days in the dark dungeons of the recording studio…on the weekends when we had a day off I realized I needed a day off to get some sunshine and get rid of my white studio tan…we went out and had never played before…probably 74, 75 something like that…..and rented clubs at a golf course…. and had so much fun…. played terribly… and no one got injured, or hurt or drowned in a boat…. it became part of our escape during studio hours….when we’d come back to LA our producer, who was a guy named Bill Szymczyk, started taking the game quite seriously and taking lessons…so we’d go back to Miami and go out and play with him….and he was hitting the ball long and straight …. and we were still just duffs… so everybody started taking lessons to try catch up with Bill…and before we knew it we were all hooked on it.”
On the number of rock ‘n rollers playing golf:
“….yeah, I just played in an event last year which was the Golf Digest magazine event…the Top 100 rock ‘n roll golfing musicians…. I think I came in 23rd or something like that…but I was surprised at how many people that are in the music business that are singers, players, musicians, you would never suspect are actually avid, good golfers…. it’s not particularly rock ‘n roll but it’s a love to be able to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the game.”
On playing the famous Dunhill tournament courses:
“…the first year I was over there I was just invited as a guest… to watch…and when we arrived there I had already shipped my golf clubs and clothes back to the States after doing tournaments for the NSPCC….and some cricket player, I can’t remember his name, had to cancel…..so when I walked in they said ‘hey, we have a spot, do you want to play?’…and I went, ‘oh my God it’s like a dream come true!’ ….(which is like the Holy Grail of golf to me and probably every other golfer in the United States)…’I'd love to, but I don’t have any clubs or anything.’ They said to go down to the pro shop and get some clubs and go get on the tee!… so I went down and bought some shoes and an outfit and some rental clubs and a bunch of balls and went out and played Carnoustie and just had an absolutely, wonderful, wonderful time.”
On being introduced to the crowd on the first tee:
“I say a daily prayer….I’ve played in front of hundreds of thousands of people on television and in stadiums everywhere….so I’m quite comfortable being anywhere in the world with a guitar in my hand….. but when you take that away and put a golf club in your hand I get the sweaty palms, my knees start clanking and you just pray that you’re gonna get off that first shot and get away from the TV cameras off that first tee looking like you sorta know what you’re doing…. it’s a lot of nerves and a lot of fun…. it’s very exciting for me to do that.”
On the coolest guys in the tournament:
“In the years I have been there I have met some of the nicest people…both professional golfers, musicians…just that gang that’s over there every year that are just remarkably kind and generous people. I have such a good time…..even though I love the golf course and I love the tournament a large part of going over and participating is to see all of of the people that I’ve met and come to know over the past five years….so it’s a real hard call to say it’s the golfers or the musicians…there are some great people from all sorts of walks of life who I’ve made friends with… it’s a big part of my interest in returning there….. it’s really all well worth the trip and the travel….and I love Scotland most of all! One of the most spectacular parts of the world to play golf in….to be able to walk those fairways…I relish it every year.”

We’re talkin’ about the otha ‘Don’ here, aren’t we?
The convo on the phone goes sumpin’ like this: SoupBook’s side of the convo only (fill in the blanks):
“Hello! Oh, hi Don, good to hear from you as always… Sure, sure, yes, oh yes, ugh huh, I see… Oh, so you want us to announce the signing is cancelled?… No problem!… Oh, I see… Yes, we remember Marc Eliot and his signing we cancelled, yes…. Sure, we’d be delighted for you to “drop in”, and you give us a heads up, right. So we can send out rush invites, RSVP etc?… Oh, sure the News trucks can park out back, we can tape off the parking lot for them if we have to”
Now, I must go hurl after that! Eew!!!!!!!!!!

It's had the opposite effect on me. I've pre-ordered from several different sites so just in case it had been cancelled and advance copies have been sent out, then I might get one by accident !
Any how, hopefully, a few people will be getting the Felder book from me as a Christmas present this year
RickenbackerWayback,
September 27, 2007
Personally, I think BookSoup is either taking EW's word for this 'news' OR are just lying because they caved in under pressure from "the opposition" who want this event cancelled who most likely promised them 'an event' or a signing in the near future. If it was cancelled why is Don's signing date still listed on the website as well as the BookSoup MySpace? I smell something fishy in this whole deal. If the event was indeed cancelled don't you all think HE would tell us? Of course he would! What was I thinking, believing this BS?! Shame on me!!

RickenbackerWayback,

This is EW 'story' is OLD news about Hyperion cancelling the publishing deal of Don's book. On April 15th 2007 they announced the news that the book was due to publish by October. By the evening of the following day (April 16th!) the Hyperion web pages dedicated to Don & the book were GONE!
The EW story is nothing but PROPAGANDA from the "opposition" who don't want people to pre-order the book at the various outlets where it's being sold! (@ Amazon, Barnes & Noble. If people don't pre-order the book, it won't place well enough in sales to stay in print and the book will be resigned to the remainders list 6 to 8 weeks after the street date. When that happens the book goes out of print and availability goes with it. The big thing is this: if you Pre-order it, you will save $!! Time is growing short before the pre-order window closes. None of these aforementioned book dealers have issued any statements regarding this "news" nor have they stopped taking pre-orders! None of them! The fact is Don's book has a new publisher, (not Hyperion who cancelled in mid April), as well as a new cover (the cool blue CA license plate), a modified title and a new ISBN #. So go ahead and please pre-order it with confidence unless there's an OFFICIAL announcement! Don't take the word of some Internet rag like EW who probably published this "news" story in exchange for a promise of some kind of exclusive interview. This would not be the 1st time someone dished out propanganda aimed at thwarting the sales of a book about The Eagles! (Does the name Marc Eliot ring a bell?!) Go now, get out your card ready and buy Don's book! Pre-order it PLEASE!

Just to all you Don Felder fans know, the Guitar Center Music Foundation has an eBay auction of The Eagles "Hotel California" album signed by Don Felder himself. If you're interested in checking it out, you can go to the Guitar Center Music Foundation's MySpace and click the link in the blog or you can go directly to the eBay site by going here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZgcmf

LOL - Because when I get back to LA from Vegas on 25 October, Don will probably have left for Texas to play in the Park Cities Rotary Golf.
However, if he has one of those advance copies, maybe he could leave one for me to pick up. Dedicate it to his number 1 golfing stalker

As I sit and write this I'm listening to Hell Freezes Ove", some of the best music ever written and played, and without doubt some of the smoothest live guitar playing of all time! I know artists can be headstrong and temperamental, I have three in my family, but surely you guys have known and valued each other for so long that you could work it out! When it's all said and done, life is not about material wealth, it's about love and relationships. "The Eagles" are not the same without you and I'm sure you're not the same without them. Do this saddened fan a favour and try to patch it up! P.S. Please forward this on to Don Henley and Glen Frey

My heart goes out to the family and band members and all those close to Hughie.
Again it shows that we just never know when God's going to book that ultimate gig. We can never really be prepared for it, but if we rehearse the way Hughie did then we too will play side-by-side with the Lord.
I put some of my favorite Hughie music together in a small tribute.

Great Site, I’m sure everyone will agree. I was at the Eagles gigs in Ireland on the Hell Freezes Over Tour. I agree with previous messages voicing opinions about Eagles being a chain linked by all the key members. Don, you were a vital part of the link, sorely missed. We are all heading in the same direction in life and there is no discriminating on that point. Why fall out and go through life like this. Give us all a lift patch up with the guys and make Hell Freeze Over a second time man. You are a true talent. God Bless.

I caddied for Don last week and boy was it a blast. No doubt an avid golfer, the man himself shows up lookin like a million bucks…from head to toe , equipment, you name it. I thought he was gonna be a magnificent player. I admit, he’s pretty greasy around the greens, but Don barely hits it out of his shadow. All I can say is he needs to utilize more of a full body turn to generate more clubhead speed. Either way, a great guy, and Id be honored to caddie for him anyday.

I’ve researched it by reading all the stuff on all the websites & have never found an answer. Oh I get it. That wasn’t Don playing along with Walsh and Frey it was you. Nice job.

I love the sound of the Gretsch and was surprised to find out that it was Glenn Frey putting in a fine performance. I haven’t listened to it in a long time but when I want to relax after a hectic day at work, I sometimes pick up a guitar and have a play to to relax. A few nights ago I was just strumming the chords to Try and Love Again and I realised that Helen, my wife, was singing along.
I need to have another listen to that album soon.

Yes, Try and Love Again is a great song and a wonderful Gretsch festival. Don’t know, but you think Don was playing one (uncredited) on the studio version as well?

I remember sitting for hors looking at the scene inside the hotel and imagining who all the people were. And also trying to work out which Eagle was Bernie Leadon!!!
One of my favourite songs on that album, and in deed by the Eagles, is Try and Love Again. I’m not sure that Randy actually performed that live with the Eagles.

Can you tell me why Don was not on the live CD from the Austrailian Tour in 2004. The band did not sound the same with out him. What happened.

I remember being in my last year of high school when this song came out. It takes me back to those carefree days when you had no real responsibility other than seeing that you made it to graduation…
And where were you when Hotel California hit the radio?

I’m now the owner of a brand spanking new copy.
It’s a very nice book, nicely illustrated, easy to read. It tells the story of the bus, it’s staff, some of the artists who’ve been on board, the technical equipment on the bus and how to put together a piece of audio/video. It also contains some stuff about John Lennon.
There are several color photos of Don, a recap of how his visit on the bus unfolded and the text of his interview (with an additional question or comment.) The book also has an accompanying DVD. On it is Don’s interview and the music video he made with the students. (It was nice to be able to see it a bit bigger and not so dark!)
