ALLMAN BROS BAND TO STREAM BEACON RUN….cool idea by the ABB. Their fifteen sold-out Beacon Theater concerts will be available for live on-demand streaming. The package runs you $125, but hey, on the average that’s less than you’d pay for a seat to one show (and there’s no “convenience charge”) and that way, the fans who miss out on the live shows can still see the band. Each show will be unique and will feature a celebrity music guest in a tribute to Duane Allman. The shows start March 9th. Details at moogis.com….LARRY CARLTON TRIO TOURS EUROPE…we’ve always enjoyed Larry’s sound and we’re really looking forward to his show in Hamburg on the 12th. Larry has had his own “Mr 335 TV” site which we’ve linked to for the past couple of years. Our tip: The concert channel on it is definitely worth checking out (you need to have a fast internet connection) and you can also find his complete tour schedule there. What’s more, you can meet Larry at this year’s huge Frankfurt (Germany) Music Trade Fair in April during his autograph session….STEVE LUKATHER SOLO SHOWS…Steve is the (former) lead guitarist of Toto, a group which formed the 70’s and is responsible for hits you’ve most certainly heard on the radio and still remember the lyrics to despite perhaps having forgotten the title (”Rosanna” “Hold the Line” “I Won’t Hold You Back”). As an axe-man and songwriter, Lukather has collaborated on seemingly a gazillion recordings (many of his own) with some of the greatest names in music. Steve’s Ever Changing World Tour has kicked off and will play the entire month of March in locations throughout Europe. Go to stevelukather.net for details.
3-7-09: Larry and Luke are included in Gibson’s recent list of 10 All-Time Great Session Guitarists
